What are your hours?

We are open for dinner daily at 5pm and for brunch on Saturday and Sunday’s from 11am – 2:30pm.

Do you take reservations?

Reservations are available one month in advance and are currently accepted online for parties up to eight people. For larger parties please email us at info@allpurposedc.com or call us at (202)849-6174 during operating hours. Please note in your reservation if you will need a high chair or ADA accommodation. Walk-ins will be accepted at our bar. Walk-ins for tables will be accepted first-come, first-serve but reservations are recommended, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

Do you take walk-ins?

Yes. Walk-ins are always welcome at the bar, and walk-in tables are seated first come, first served. Reservations are recommended for tables, especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

What meals do you serve?

We serve brunch and dinner.

Do you have a happy hour?

Yes! Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 5 to 7pm for dine-in, plus all night Sunday at the bar. Check out our happy hour menu to see what's pouring.

Can you accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions?

Yes, we will do everything in our power to provide you a dish you can eat! Most of our pizzas can be substituted with gluten-free dough. Many dishes can be made vegetarian or vegan. Our pizza dough is vegan, however, our gluten-free dough is not.

Do you have vegan and vegetarian options?

Yes, both vegan and vegetarian options are available.

Do you have gluten free pizza?

Yes. Most of our pizzas can be made with gluten free dough, just ask when you order. One note for vegan guests: our standard pizza dough is vegan, but the gluten free dough is not.

Do you have a kids menu?

No, we don’t have a specific kids’ menu.

Do you have dessert?

Yes, desserts are offered.

What drinks do you serve?

We offer alcohol, including beer, cocktails, hard liquor, and wine.

Do you serve local DC specialties?

Yes. Our produce comes from a farm co-op in Lancaster, PA, and our pork comes from Lancaster as well, so the menu moves with the season. Current seasonal items include the Agricola salad (farm lettuces, cherry tomatoes, filet beans, cucumbers, crispy shallots, green goddess dressing) and the Calabrese pizza (tomato, provolone, caciocavallo, 'nduja sausage, heirloom peppers, fresh oregano). On the beer side we pour DC Brau, Right Proper, Atlas, Other Half, and ANXO Cider from here in DC, plus Port City from Alexandria. The cooking is Italian-inspired, but the ingredients and the beer list come from farms and breweries close to home.

What are your most popular pizzas?

Guest favorites include the Buona (pepperoni, Calabrian chili honey, basil), the Sedgewick (whipped ricotta, taleggio, black truffle honey), the Rubirosa (cup-and-char pepperoni, basil swirl), the Funghi (wild mushrooms, parm fonduta, black truffle sauce), and the Standard (tomato, mozzarella, Siciliana oregano, grana Padano). First time? Any of those five is a safe bet.

Where are you located?

Our address is 1250 9th St NW, Washington, DC 20001. We are in between Ghostburger and Fossette Focacerria. Our front door is under the red & white awning and PIZZA neon.

Where can I park?

There is street parking on both 9th St and N St, usually free after 6:30pm. Taxis and rideshares are easy to catch out front.

How do I get there by Metro?

The closest Metro stop is Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St Convention Center on the Green and Yellow lines, about a 5 minute walk from our front door. Several Metrobus routes stop nearby, including the D4X at the Convention Center and the D32 on Rhode Island Ave.

Are you wheelchair accessible?

Yes, our dining room is accessible and there are no stairs to enter the restaurant. Please note on your reservation if you need ADA accommodation.

Do you have an assistive hearing loop?

No, we currently do not provide an assistive hearing loop.

Do you have gender-neutral restrooms?

Yes, we offer gender-neutral restrooms.

How close are you to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center?

We're across the street from the Convention Center, making us an easy lunch, dinner, or happy hour stop during conferences and events. Our front door is on 9th Street NW under the red and white awning.

Who is the chef behind All Purpose Pizza?

Chef Mike Friedman, a James Beard Award semifinalist, opened All-Purpose in Shaw in 2016. All-Purpose was named one of Washingtonian's 100 Very Best Restaurants in 2026. Chef Friedman is also behind Fossette Focacceria next door, The Red Hen in Bloomingdale, and Aventino and AP Pizza Shop in Bethesda.

Is All Purpose related to AP Pizza Shop in Bethesda?

Yes! All Purpose is the original, a full-service pizzeria and bar that opened here in Shaw first. AP Pizza Shop brought the casual deck oven version to Bethesda Row, with Chef Mike Friedman leading both kitchens. A few favorites like the Buona appear on both menus, but each location has its own pies.
